Having been associated years ago with the Northwest School of artists, La Conner has developed a well-deserved reputation as an "art town." Here, you'll find a number of unique art galleries representing the works of some of the country's most creative artists. We've listed a few of La Conner's best art galleries below. EarthenWorks Gallery is considered one of the best places to find unique arts and crafts in the Pacific Northwest, and it has been recognized as one of the top ten American craft retailers. The gallery represents the art and handcrafted works of numerous American and Canadian artists, including Jennifer Bowman, Elizabeth Garver, and Barbara VanDyke.

At the gallery, you find a seemingly infinite number and variety of arts and crafts for you to choose from. Handcrafted jewelry, oil paintings, ceramic objects, blown glass, and even custom folding knives are just a few of the selections you'll find there.

EarthenWorks Gallery is owned and operated by Don and Cynthia Hoskins. The gallery is housed in the Hotel Planter, a historic building the the heart of downtown La Conner.

Forum Arts

Forum Arts displays artwork associated with the culture of the Northwest. They feature the works of established contemporary artists from the Northwest region. At various times during the year, Forum Arts will hold exhibitions for specific artists, such as William Cumming, Kandis Susol, and Max Benjamin.

La Conner Artists' Gallery

La Conner Artists' Gallery (formerly the That's Knot All Artists' Co-Operative) features a variety of artwork from numerous local artists. The artists actually help run the gallery, so, when you visit, there's the chance you'll be talking to the artist who created the works you're interested in. Currently, around two dozen artists are represented by the gallery, including Rebecca Brewster, Robert North, Patti Pontikis, and Shari Raymond.

The gallery occasionally has sales events, in-store specials, art "garage sales," and other unique events. They also host artist demonstrations and local musicians on Firdays and Saturdays.

La Conner Artists' Gallery was created in 2012 by Lisa Judy. It's located in the Pier 7 building in downtown La Conner.

Expressions Art Gallery

Established in 2014 by Stan and Shannon O'Neil, Expressions Art Gallery displays the works of various artists. Artists include New Mexico designer Guilloume, Bob and Laurie Kliss, Kate and Will Jacobson, and Steph Madar.

The gallery features the hand blown glass creations of Stan O'Neil. (He also owns O'Neil Arts, a studio on Camano Island, where you'll find blown glass and metal forged art objects.)

A variety of other mediums are used by the artists represented by the gallery: unique jewelry made from clay, dichroic glass, wood, porcelain, and various metals; oil and acrylic paintings; and wood and bronze sculptures.

Expressions Art Gallery is housed in the historic Meeks building, which was renovated by the O'Neils several years ago. It's located just off the Swinomish Channel waterfront and a short walk from La Conner Channel Lodge.

The Wood Merchant

The Wood Merchant is a gallery of woodworking items produced by over 200 local and regional craftsmen. (All items are produced by American and Canadian artists.) Opened in 1983, The Wood Merchant has grown to become one of La Conner's most popular establishments. At The Wood Merchant, you'll find everything from unique wooden sculptures and wall art to handmade furnishings. They even have a small selection of watercolor prints.
