Skagit Valley Wineries and Vineyards

The Skagit Valley is a beautiful area, surrounded by the North Cascades, scenic lakes, and the Skagit River. It's also a great location for growing a variety of Pacific Northwest grapes. The conditions and climate are similar to what you'd find in some of Europe's most popular wine-growing areas. The result is our area has a number of excellent wineries and vineyards for you to enjoy. We've listed a few of our favorites in this article.

Hellam's Vineyard

Established in 2004, Hellam's Vineyard is an Italian-inspired wine shop that offers a variety of excellent wines, ales, and ciders. It was established in 2004 and is family owned and operated. Besides beverages, Hellam's also has gourmet cheese plates and panini sandwiches. Oh, and don't forget the friendly and knowledgeable staff.

Hellam's is family-friendly and pet-friendly. It's located walking distance from La Conner Channel Lodge, right on Swinomish Channel, with an outdoor deck where you can enjoy drinks, a meal, and great views of the La Conner waterfront. If you prefer, you can sit inside in a comfortable dining area.

Skagit Cellars Winery

Skagit Cellars is an award-winning winery specializing in red and white wines created by wine-maker Mark Hulst. Grapes used in Sagit Cellars wines come from the Chelan Valley and Columbia Valley. Wines include Sauvignon Blanc, Merlot, Viognier, and many others.

Skagit Cellars La Conner tasting room is just a short walk from the Swinomish Channel and from La Conner Channel Lodge. There, you can enjoy various wines in a relaxing, comfortable setting. On occasion, Skagit Cellars hosts live music performed by local artists. Check their website for currently scheduled events.

Skagit Crest Vineyard and Winery

Skagit Crest Vineyard and Winery consists of a three-acre vineyard in Sedro Woolley, Washington and a tasting room in La Conner. The owners, Chuck and Donna Jackson, produce excellent red wines, including Pinot Noir and Cabernet Sauvignon. White and rose wines include Chardonnay, Pinot Blanc, Sauvignon Blanc, and Rose of Pinot Noir.

Although the vineyard is not open to the public, the tasting room is open on weekends. The tasting room is located on the La Conner boardwalk, overlooking the Swinomish Channel. And, it's a very short walk from La Conner Channel Lodge. No reservations are required at the Skagit Crest tasting room, and it's kid-friendly and dog-friendly.

Tulip Valley Winery

Tulip Valley Winery is an award-winning, family-owned winery located in Mount Vernon, Washington, a short drive from La Conner. The owners produce a number of wines from Pinot Noir grapes grown in Washington's Columbia Valley, as well as hard ciders made from nine varieties of apples and pears. (The winery is well-known for it's Burro Loco Cider.)
Tulip Valley Winery's tasting room is located in a 1920s dairy barn in the heart of Skagit Valley. The winery is family-friendly and dog-friendly.

Pasek Cellars

Pasek Cellars is Washington's largest producer of fruit wines. They feature award-winning fruit wines and a couple of tropical wines. Cranberry wine is their most popular variety, with blackberry being a close second.

Located in Mount Vernon, Washington, the tasting room is next door to the winery. You can tour the winery, and observe wine making in action. Pasek Cellars also features artwork from nine local artists, including Elizabeth Person, Natalie Heater, and Kelli Collins.
